A 35-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in jail for murder, rape attempt and perverse acts of a sexual character. According to the investigation, while on a visit to a female friend of his, he tried to rape her daughter and then strangled her with a collar. Several days later, the offender was arrested at the victim’s funeral. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the Hancesti Prosecutor’s Office, the girl’s mother knew who the culprit was, but didn’t tell the police. She is accused of favoring the offense. The criminal case against her was recently sent to court. The woman faces up to three years behind bars.
