Man gets 18 years in jail for throwing daughter off balcony

A man was sentenced by the Chisinau Court of Appeals to 18 years and 9 months in jail for attempting to kill his 6-year-old daughter two years ago. The father was found guilty of throwing the little girl over the balcony at the fifth floor of a Chisinau apartment building, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the prosecutors, the girl angered his father with her request to go play outside. The child was lucky to encounter a bunch of flowers suspended from balconies at lower floors which cushioned her fall. The girl landed on a patch of greensward. She suffered injuries described by doctors as of medium severity, being admitted to the hospital for children “V. Ignatenco” where she received first aid. The judgment may be appealed in a higher court.
