A Chisinau man was sentenced to 13 years in jail for a 1.5 million lei fraud, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Between 2005 and 2007 the man, acting as the president of an international organization based in Chisinau, gathered almost 1.5 million lei through trickery and abuse of the trust of 22 people. The culprit was promising his victims that he would get them paperwork and work visas for the Korean Republic, after which he’d receive from 2,700 up to €4,500.
After months of plain promises the victims went to the headquarters of the association, where they found out that there is no one working in there, and the phones of the manager were disconnected, which made them address to the Law enforcing bodies.
According to the prosecutors, the culprit was also charged for taking over €30,000 euro from another person, under the pretext of opening some business in Moldova and offering the aforementioned the position of financial manager at the organization.
