The young man accused of participating in the killing of a Ciocana toddler a year ago was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison by the Chisinau/Buiucani District Court, half a year after the sentencing of his girlfriend in the same case.
The woman and her boyfriend were asked by a friend to babysit her 2-year-old daughter. They tortured the girl with a fork, a pen and an unnamed blunt object, as well as by hitting and kicking her, to her death. In an attempt to cover their tracks, the couple tried to hide the body in a windbreak on the outskirts of the city.
In April, the young woman was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
