A man from Slobozia district was sentenced to 12 years in jail for stealing over 500,000 lei from an automated teller machine, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecutors established that the 26-year-old offender, by reaching beforehand an agreement with four persons put on the wanted list, entered the home of culture in Cupcini town of Edinet district.
They immobilized the guard, tying him with chains and, using special instruments, broke the ATM and took the money, causing damage of over 700,000 lei to the bank.
The young man will also have to cover the damage done by the theft. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
