A Hancesti man, 24, has been sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment for abusing his domestic partner over a long period time before stabbing and leaving her half dead, the General Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.

Throughout 2012, the man beat his partner and threatened to kill her. The next year, after the woman gave birth to a child, the man struck her heavily on the head and then beat her with an iron chain. A month later, he stabbed her and despite leaving her in a severe condition he forbade her to call the ambulance. The victim was able to call for help only when the aggressor fell asleep.

The sentence is appealable.
