An inhabitant of Taraclia district was sentenced to 17 years in jail for rape attempt and violent acts of a sexual character against a girl aged 13 from the same community, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the 38-yearold man admitted his guilt. Last November, being under the influence of alcohol, he attacked the teenage girl on the street. He tried to rape her, but was stopped by a passerby.
The culprit was recently freed from jail.
The sentence can be appealed. The man was also obliged to pay 30,000 lei to the girl’s family in respect of non-pecuniary damage.
In another case made public on February 20, a man aged 40 from Cahul was sentenced to 16 years in jail for raping his minor daughter. The girl told teachers what happened and these informed the police. It was established that the man raped his daughter, who got pregnant. Now the 17-year-old girl is in her mother’s care outside the country.
