Man found unconscious under bridge after stab attack

A man in his mid-forties was found unconscious on Wednesday, April 23, under a bridge in Chisinau’s Botanica district. Dr. Anatol Proca of the Chisinau Emergency Service ruled out the version of a suicide attempt, as the man had multiple knife wounds to the head. The victim was admitted to the Emergency Hospital’s intensive care. Same day, around 17:00, a 12-year-old boy was struck by a Hyundai taxi on Independentei Street. The boy was transported to Valentin Ignatenco Hospital with fractures of the nasal bones and brain concussion. A 46-year-old woman called an ambulance to her home on Postei Street, alleging she had been struck by a vehicle. Apparently drunk, the woman was diagnosed with brain concussion and wound of the left shank. A drunk man, 56, suffered injuries in a hit-and-run accident, being hospitalized with brain concussion and several broken ribs. On Wednesday, the Chisinau Emergency Service recorded 641 calls, including 56 cases of acute viral diseases, 48 cases of trauma, 2 brain strokes and 20 cases of mumps.
