A woman aged 69 from Cuhureștii de Sus village of Florești district died after being aggressed by her son. In the evening of February 12, the man aged 47 returned home inebriated and hit his mother with a knife in the neck.
Lilia Harea, press officer of the Florești Police Inspectorate, has told IPN that the police were alerted by neighbors. When arriving at the scene, the police officers found the woman dead. Her son, who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested.
It was preliminarily established that the son attacked her mother as a result of a quarrel with her. A kitchen knife was the murder weapon. The man faces 10 to 15 years in jail or life for murder.
The mayor of Cuhureștii de Sus Valeriu Lupan has told IPN that the man has a criminal past and had lived with his mother after he returned from jail. He didn’t have stable job and used to drink alcohol and was aggressive. The woman didn’t have other children and her concubine was a man with disabilities. It is not yet known who will cover the burial related costs.
