Man drowns under Nistru ice

The body of a man who drowned two days ago was recovered from the Nistru River on Wednesday, February 17. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the tragedy happened in Dubsari district on February 16. The frogmen started to look for the body the same day, but found him only one day later. The 48-year-old man was an inhabitant of Parata village of Dubasari district. Another man aged 52 died in a fire in his house in Ialoveni town on Wednesday evening. The neighbors saw the smoke and flames coming out of the window of the house and called out the fire brigade. After putting out the fire, the firefighters found the body of the man in one of the rooms. The fire destroyed objects in two of the rooms and a part of the roof. The chemists team of the Rescue and Unblocking Department No.1 was called to a house situated on Liviu Deleanu St in Chisinau to collect the mercury that poured out of the thermometer on the floor. On the same day, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service unblocked four doors. The four fires that happened in Moldova on Wednesday resulted in one death. Fifty-two persons were killed in fires this year.
