Man dies twice

The body of a 40-year-old man has got burnt to ashes together with the wooden coffin he was placed in, after the casket caught fire from a candle during the wake for the deceased. The incident occurred last night at around 11:00 PM in a home in Briceni town. Liliana Puscasu of the Firefighters & Rescuers Dept. has told Info-Prim Neo that nobody was in the room where the casket was placed when a candle fell on the carpet and started the fire. From the moment the relatives of the dead man discovered the fire until the firefighters arrived, the body inside the coffin got completely burnt. The mother of the deceased was transported to hospital, experiencing a strong mental shock after living twice the death of her son. The firemen arrived on time and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread beyond the engine compartment. Over the last day, 7 fires were recorded in Moldova, in addition to 147 fires registered from the beginning of the month, which claimed 16 lives.
