A 59-year-old man from Troiţa Nouă village of Anenii Noi district was struck by lightning and killed on the evening of July 7. He was married and had three children, Ludmila Pîntea, secretary of the council of Ciobanovca commune, which includes Troiţa Nouă, stated for IPN.
The man was pasturing goats in an open field. At about 8pm, the goats returned home without the owner. One of the children went to look after his farther and found him dead. The police were called out and the officers found no signs of violence on the body.
Contacted by IPN for details, Liliana Puşcaşu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, noted that the population should take into account the weather forecasts and should not stay in open places in unfavorable conditions. In case of thunderstorms, the persons should find refuge avoiding areas near trees.
