A man from Izbiște village of Criuleni district died after he left the hotplate on and went to sleep. Due to the overheating of the electrical appliance, the victim's clothes caught fire, causing the fire, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the call to the 112 Service was received on Tuesday evening. The fire that broke out in the house was extinguished before the specialized teams were called out.
The partially charred body of the owner, a 60-year-old man, was found at the scene. It was established that the man left the electric hotplate on next to him and fell asleep. All the circumstances are to be determined by specialists.
In this connection, the firefighters repeatedly warn the citizens that non-compliance with the fire safety rules when using electric heating appliances and other sources can have fatal consequences.
The 1,532 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year resulted in 91 deaths. Three of the victims were minors.
