Officers of the customs post of Tvardita, Taraclia found contraband to the value of about 1 million lei in a car driven by a man from Ciadir-Lunga, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the Customs Service says that the contraband included clothes, shoes, cosmetic products, underwear, perfumes, domestic appliances and even agricultural parts that were bought at a market in Ukraine’s Odessa region. The 40-year-old driver could present no documents of origin for the goods.
The man faces a fine of up to 20,000 lei or up to 10 years behind bars. The Customs Service is to determine if the smuggler didn’t violate the intellectual property rights. Afterward, the court will decide what will happen to the contraband.
