The recent visit made to Chisinau by the adviser to the German Chancellor revived the possibility of forming a ruling alliance in the PLDM-PDM-PL format. Such opinions were stated in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Political analyst Victor Ciobanu is optimistic that a majority pro-European coalition will be ultimately formed and the Leanca Government will be voted in. “After the visit paid by Merkel’s adviser to Chisinau, the statements of the political leaders changed. “I’m convinced that Angela Merkel could not allow forming an alliance with the Communists in a country for which she guaranteed with her honor. I think all the three parties will finally make concessions,” he stated.

Victor Ciobanu considers the result of the discussion between Iurie Leanca and Mihai Ghimpu is promising. “I like the statements made by the two leaders. Ghimpu said clearly that he wants to return to the talks so that a pro-European alliance if formed. But I regret that these statements weren’t made on December 5 so that we could now have a parliamentary majority and a functional Government,” he said.

Political commentator Vitalie Andievschi also believes that things will change after the German official’s visit. “Angela Merkel sent her trustworthy person to Chisinau and this visit left imprints. The Europeans cannot accept the scenario according to which Moldova will come closer to China so as to get those US$2 billion, as it was rumored recently. This scenario is dangerous for Moldova,” he said.

Andrievschi called on the leaders of the three pro-European parties to finally start work for the country’s benefit. “The country must go on. It is the country’s interest that should unite these parties. The Moldovans are in fact a forgiving people, while the political leaders should understand that they will be forgiven if they stop stealing and begin to work for the country’s benefit,” he stated.
