The Chisinau City Hall decided that the main stage on the Day of Chisinau that is marked on October 14 will be put up on the pedestrian street. Though the local authorities intend to avoid the Great National Assembly Square, where people have protested since the beginning of September, the exhibitions of paintings, graphic works, handicrafts and other things will be mounted on Stefan cel Mare Blvd, as every year. The platforms for the district head’s offices to stage performances there will be set up also on the main street of Chisinau, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, the Culture Division’s head Lucia Culev said that the celebrations on October 14 will begin with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, as usual. Afterward, a service will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”. This year again, the mayor of Chisinau will open up a wine cask. The mayor wants that this event should become a tradition.
The traditional concert on the Day of Chisinau this year will be devoted to the tenth anniversary of the creation of the municipal Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers. Alongside the orchestra, performances will be given by Zinaida Julea, Maria Iliut, Mihai Ciobanu, Igor Cuciuc, the band “Plaiesii” and the Osoianu sisters. Romanian folk music singer Irina Loghin will be the special invitee. A concert intended for the youth will be given in the evening.
The sale of other alcoholic drinks than wine and beer will not be allowed in the center of Chisinau on October 14. The local authorities requested the police to maintain and ensure public order on this day so as to avoid provocations.
Head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that sports events will again be held on City’s Day this year, such as the Open Cycling Cup of Chisinau municipality and the international contest of dance sports “Chisinau Open – 2015”.
