The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started sending ballot envelopes to Moldovan citizens who chose to vote by mail. The first batch of ballots was sent to Moldovan voters in Canada.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ballots were sent to all voters who registered in advance by September 5. In addition to voting by mail, 6 polling stations will be opened in Canada, where voters will be able to vote in person.
Also, the Moldovan Embassy in Stockholm sent envelopes with ballot papers to Moldovan citizens in Iceland, thus marking the beginning of the postal voting process for the diaspora from the Nordic states. In the following days, envelopes will also be sent to voters in other Nordic states, ensuring the right to vote for all Moldovan citizens in the region.
Postal voting is being piloted for Moldovans in the U.S., Canada, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland.
The electoral authority printed 1,809 ballots for those who requested to vote by mail, and 852,000 ballots each for the presidential election and referendum for the polling stations abroad.
