The latest exhibition at maib park, inaugurated in March, is a tribute to the folk costumes and craftswomen who weave national costumes and national shirts elements of cultural identity included in the UNESCO intangible heritage. The exhibition of folk costumes harmoniously complements another series of pieces in the "Soul of Moldova" exhibition, which creates a harmonious symbiosis between tradition and innovative artistic vision, the product of the creation of artists Victoria Peev and Kasandruta.

The new exhibition entitled "National shirts: stories and symbols" is realized by maib in partnership with the "Șezătoarea Basarabiei" community, as part of the bank's commitment to provide a platform for art, national heritage and the broad public to meet.

The exhibition will be open for two weeks for free. Each shirt in the exhibition brings a unique story, made up of motifs that conceal a whole universe of meaning.

According to Cristina Dan, founder of the community and maib employee, among the symbols presented in the exhibition are:

  • Tree of life (Pomul vieții): symbol of the link between heaven and earth, representing eternal life, revival and verticality.
  • Rhombus (Rombul): fertility, abundance and harmony, illustrating the synergy between sun and earth, man and woman.
  • Hands on hips (Mâini pe șolduri): a sign of female strength, determination and the ability to stand "upright" in the face of hardship.
  • Spiral (Spirala): symbol of universal energy and movement, uniquely reflected in each shirt.
  • Column (Coloana): representing upliftment and personal growth.
  • The path around (Calea ocolită): a metaphor for human life, with good and bad.
  • Star (Steaua): guide and orientation point towards we are heading.

A unique value of these shirts is brought by the skilful hands of the women who embroidered them. Cristina Dan, Andreea-Natalia Rusnac, Virginia Negru, Natalia Nicolaescu, Ana Erhan, Diana Rosca, Irina Briceag, Diana Meaun, Victoria Maxim are members of the community "Șezătoarea Basarabiei", women with different professions and fields of activity, united by the passion for national shirts.

We invite all art and culture lovers to discover this fascinating exhibition highlighting our authentic heritage and traditions.

We look forward to seeing you at maib park, 127, 31 August 1989 street, to enjoy a unique cultural experience and discover the impressive stories of the national shirts.

Together, we inspire traditions and the art of beauty!
