On the occasion of 30 years of Social Responsibility, Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) donated medical equipment to the value of 1 million lei to the Emergency Medicine Institute. A part of the medical devices that are intended for the Intensive Care Unit are unique in Moldova and are extremely necessary for saving lives during the COVID-19 pandemic and not only, IPN reports.
MAIB CEO Giorgi Shagidze said that after 30 years of activity, MAIB moves to the next level, with an updated strategy, a new mission, vision, new values and a responsible business model. “The 30-year anniversary of MAIB could not remain in history without thanking the society for all the trust, support and loyalty it has given us over the years. The last two years, we have seen sacrifice, courage, persistence, and dedication of devoted healthcare workers and doctors. This time has revealed the need to support them so that they can do more to help our society and people. It is our way of saying ‘Thank You’ to them and to all of you on our anniversary. After 30 years, next level for MAIB will bring many more projects for society, community and the environment,” Giorgi Shagidze.
Following consultations with intensive care practitioners, the following equipment has been identified and delivered through “Valeriu Ghereg” Medical Foundation: five intermittent pneumatic compression devices for the prophylaxis of venous thrombosis; five hot-air cannons for heating the patient, and ten high-flow oxygen therapy devices.
MAIB first vice president Aliona Stratan noted that the bank continues investing in the modernization and development of the bank, but simultaneously remains consistent and invests in clients. “This is the formula through which we chose to show our love and appreciation for the clients and society, honoring lives and investing in saving lives,” stated Aliona Stratan.
“We didn’t have such medical devices for intensive care, but they are extremely necessary for saving lives. We express our gratitude to the MAIB team and the bank’s shareholders for this important donation to our Institute and also to the entire society,” said Mihail Ciocanu, Emergency Medicine Institute director.
Previously, within the “Easy Breathing” Project, MAIB donated 50,000 leiL for strengthening technical capacities and human resources in public medical institutions treating patients with SARS-CoV-2. Then, there were purchased two non-invasive BiPAP-type ventilation devices. One of them was provided to “Chiril Draganiuc” Institute of Phthisiopulmonology, while the second to the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
At the beginning of the pandemic, MAIB provided 500,000 lei in financial support to the “Toma Ciorba” Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital for supporting the medical staff involved in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 and also for purchasing vital medical equipment and the necessary supplies.
