If early parliamentary elections are not held, in three years the current government will conclusively capture the state and the Republic of Moldova will become like Belarus. If the ruling politicians do not manage to capture it, they will at least definitively discredit the European integration idea, the initiator of the political project “Action and Solidarity Party” Maia Sandu said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV, IPN reports.
The former minister of education stated that the current situation in Moldova reminds her of the year 2001, when the largest part of the seats of MP were won by the Communists, but the people voted that way then. Now a democratic parliamentary collation was formed, but it is illegitimate because it wasn’t created based on the people’s vote. “There are legal reasons for holding early elections, but the current government does not recognize them,” stated Maia Sandu.
The politician considers that if early legislative elections are held, a formula will appear that will help to slightly improve things. She admitted that there are many voters on the center-right segment who consider that they do not have who to vote for. The voters are very disappointed and it will be very hard to convince them to cast their ballots.
As to the results of the possible early elections, if most of the seats of MP are won by parties of the left that will try to change the country’s external development course, Maia Sandu said it is not so easy to change the course. The government that will try to change it will meet with protesters’ opposition, as now.
Maia Sandu considers that if forces of the left come to power, no progress on the path of European integration will be made during several years, but in the current situation the country does not move on either.
