Minister of Education Maia Sandu considers the reformation of the education system of Moldova is in danger because the current government does not enjoy majority support in Parliament. She made such statements in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.
“We have only started the reforms in education and I do not want them to be interrupted. As all the others, I’m concerned about the fact that the Government is a minority one. I hope things will go as they should,” said the minister.
Asked if she will follow her former head of Government Iurie Leanca if he launches a new political project, Maia Sandu gave an evasive answer. “We will see what happens until autumn. I sincerely want the education reform to continue and not to be interrupted. For this reason, I accepted to return to the administration of the Ministry of Education,” stated Maia Sandu.
The minister said that she is now looking for financial resources to start to implement the new Education Code. “If we find money, the curriculum will be modified. Emphasis will be laid on the development of the child’s personality. We will start with the first and second classes in primary education, the fifth and sixth classes in secondary education and the tenth classes in high school education,” said Maia Sandu.
In the same program, the minister expressed her disagreement with the reinstatement by court decisions of functionaries dismissed for incompetence or acts of corruption. “This is not right and I decided to make public calls in this connection. Let’s take the case of Valentin Crudu, whom I must reemploy after he was discharged for misuse of power. Moreover, I must dismiss from this post a person who does the job well so as to employ him. Our Labor Code is imperfect and socialist. It does not protect the employees who fulfill their duties well, but leave all kinds of chances for those who do not fulfill their obligations appropriately,” stated Maia Sandu.
