Maia Sandu: We bank on Royal House’s support in our next accession steps too

President Maia Sandu said the Republic of Moldova felt the involvement of the Royal House of Romania when it obtained the EU candidate status and further banks on its support in the country’s next accession steps. The European integration is Moldova’s chance to remain part of the free world. The statements were made in a meeting with Her Majesty, Princess Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania, and Prince Consort Radu, who paid a visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.

President Sandu and Princess Margareta conferred on the Moldovan-Romanian relations and the difficult situation experienced by Moldova and the whole region. Also, Maia Sandu thanked for the generous support that Romania offers to Moldova this time again so as to help the country cope with the crises.

President Sandu also spoke about the projects in the educational, health and social sectors that are supported by the Royal House of Romania and appreciated Her Majesty’s readiness to promote investments and to strengthen the bilateral economic relations. “I strongly believe that these virtual bridges will be supported by the real bridges that we will build over the Prut so as to bring our countries and citizens even closer,” stated the official.

Princess Margareta and Prince Radu also had a meeting with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The Speaker thanked Her Majesty for the huge support provided by Romania to Moldova’s European course, highly appreciating the efforts made by the Crown of Romania to constantly and unconditionally help Moldova. “The Republic of Moldova is now an EU candidate country also owing to Romania’s efforts. It is a very important sign of solidarity for our country that experiences a number of concomitant crises and undergoes special systemic changes. With such allies, we will definitely mange to democratize and develop the country,” stated Igor Grosu.

He noted that the relations between Moldova and Romania are at a very high cooperation level. Besides cultural and infrastructure projects that effectively connect Romania and Moldova, there is the ambition to strengthen the investment ties. “Our country is determined to stick to the free world by reforming the justice sector, fighting corruption at all levels, de-bureaucratizing and digitizing the economy. These processes started and perfectly match our European agenda,” said the Speaker.
