The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) is open to the option “Andrei Năstase – Prime Minister”, said the party’s president Maia Sandu, noting that the leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) has fewer chances of winning the presidential elections and the PAS will support him only in the runoffs, IPN reports.

“Fifty-one votes. Where these 51 votes can be taken from? We must discuss very clearly. We said that we are open to the option “Andrei Năstase – Prime Minister”. It’s true that he should be more attentive when he criticizes the PAS, if he wants my colleagues from the National Political Council to support him in this idea. I asked him to be slightly more polite. Beyond this, we must see what conditions those who would vote for this Government have and see if there are no hidden goals there. As I said, there are two groups about which we don’t know much or what we know is not positive” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Fourth Power” on N4 TV channel.

The politician noted that the PAS will take the decision about the fielding of a candidate for the presidential elections by the end of June or the start of July. The probability that it will have a candidate is very big as they want to remove Igor Dodon from the throne. “I and several colleagues of mine have a common viewpoint. Ultimately, we should secure the vote of the members and I cannot say with certitude how the members will vote. I can state my opinion and make forecasts, but I cannot give a definite answer. Everything should be in accordance with the statutes,” noted Maia Sandu, who considers that she will be the party’s candidate for President.

The PAS leader also said that the center-right does not have a common candidate for the upcoming presidential elections and the citizens will have to decide in the first round of voting which of the contenders has the biggest chances of beating Igor Dodon. The candidate who will reach the runoffs will be supported by all the forces of the center-right. Andrei Năstase will be supported by the PAS if he goes through to the runoffs. But polls show Andrei Năstase does not have big chances of winning these elections.

As to the release of Veaceslav Platon from jail, Maia Sandu said he was set free by President Igor Dodon to help him in the fight against Vladimir Plahotniuc. “He will also use Platon to harass the opposition as Plahotniuc used Shor against the opposition,” stated Maia Sandu. She admits that Platon was tried incorrectly, but considers that he is to blame for a lot of things. “Who bought MPs, judges and prosecutors to be able to implement the Russian Laundromat scheme?” she asked.
