The parties of the center-right should get ready for eventual snap parliamentary elections as the current legislative body does not represent the people’s will. Sooner or later, President Igor Dodon and the Government will fail and the parties of the right should be permanently ready for this, stated the president of the Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu.

“We know how the elections of February 2019 took place. We must put things right and will be making effort to identify methods to cause elections. We must be ready for this. We are looking for methods to cause snap parliamentary elections,” the PAS leader was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Fourth power” on N4 channel.

Maia Sandu also said that the party’s goal at this year’s presidential elections is to run with a candidate who would win against Igor Dodon. “We are ready to discuss all the options, but the arguments should be clear and plausible,” stated the politician, referring to the proposal of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” to field a common, nonparty candidate for the upcoming presidential elections. Furthermore, Maia Sandu said party membership should not be renounced for being able to run.

“At the moment, this seems an abstract discussion to me. If very clear arguments appear as to who can diametrically change the situation overnight, become known and manage to secure the support of more people, we will discuss these. During the next few months, we will see who and how much support enjoys and, respectively, what the prospects in the elections are.”

The politician said that if no other solution is identified, both she and Andrei Năstase could run in the upcoming presidential elections and the citizens would choose who should compete against Igor Dodon in the runoffs. “It is not about me. It is about the country. We must win these elections and get rid of Igor Dodon not for the sake of my political career as I really see no problem here, but for the sake of the country as Igor Dodon showed that he wants to protect the mafia clans and does this, but this is detrimental to the country. Igor Dodon showed that he can isolate the country during less than two weeks,” stated Maia Sandu.

On January 14, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” called on the democratic political forces to identify a common, nonparty candidate for the presidential elections of 2020.
