The government is open to cooperate with the OSCE for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, and the first step would be to stop the smuggling schemes. The statement was made by prime minister Maia Sandu during a meeting with Claus Neukirch, Head of the OSCE Mission, reports IPN with reference to a Government press release.

The prime minister says that identifying an immediate political solution is very difficult now, and a first step would be to eliminate, in collaboration with the Ukrainian authorities, the corruption and smuggling schemes that operate in the region.

In his turn, Claus Neukirch says that the OSCE is ready to provide assistance in the process of withdrawal of ammunition from Cobasna.

The policy of small steps was another topic addressed during the meeting. Maia Sandu maintains that this strategy can only continue if it brings concrete results, while respecting the principles of sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.
