The rankings of the 50 most influential politicians for January – March are headed by representatives of the opposition, no matter whether it is parliamentary or extraparliamentary, of the right or of the left. Maia Sandu, the leader of the political project “Action and Solidarity” Party, tops the rankings. She is followed by the chairman of the “Platform Dignity and Truth” Party Andrei Nastase and by the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon. The rankings were compiled by the Institute for Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon”, IPN reports.

According to experts of “Politicon”, the rankings show the necessity of the changes wanted by Moldovan society. Unlike other years, when the top positions were taken by representatives of the government, the current rankings are headed by representatives of the political opposition.

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu is placed fourth in the rankings. The next places are occupied by the chairman of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi, President Nicolae Timofti, ex-Premier Ion Sturza and the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. Prime Minister Pavel Filip ranks ninth, while the president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tanase – tenth.

“Politicon” says the Top 10 rankings reveal the same necessity for changes. The Democratic Party is placed first. It is followed by the main parties that protested during the last few months – the “Platform Dignity and Truth” Party, the Party of Socialists and the “Our Party”. The Liberal Party comes fifth. The sixth, seventh and eighths positions are occupied by another three parliamentary parties - the Liberal Democratic Party, the Party of Communists and the European People’s Party. The Lib-Dems and the Communists, after periods of glory in the government, go through difficult periods and witness declines.

The rankings are closed by the National Liberal Party and the Party “Our Home – Moldova”. The National-Liberals take the last places in the Top 10 by tradition already, especially amid the ascension of the unionist movement in the Republic of Moldova. The presence of the Party “Our Home – Moldova” in the rankings for the first time is due to the public resonance of the political case of the so-called Petrenco group.
