Veaceslav Platon attacks the presidential institution and the pro-presidential party as he realizes that a Parliament with honest people implies a justice sector reform, President Maia Sandu said, referring to the accusations made by the businessman in the recent past. She noted that those who have robbed the country during tens of years combined forces to hinder the securing of a pro-European parliamentary majority that would launch reforms in justice, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said Veaceslav Platon’s accusations against her are not a novelty and are an additional argument that the snap elections are needed to clear Parliament of corrupt people so that the future legislature is able to adopt bills concerning the justice sector reform.

“Platon fears that the next Parliament will include a majority of honest people who could not be bought. He wants to prevent such a development as he realizes that the other reforms will be started and he will no longer buy judges, will not have his own prosecutors and he will have to answer for the committed abuses,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.

According to President Sandu, Veaceslav Platon’s release from jail after the multitude of illegalities committed by him shows that the prosecution service is fully inefficient.

“The thieves joined forces as they see a danger, use the TV channels they own to promote themselves. In the case of Platon, the list of illegalities is long. There is no solid enterprise that wouldn’t have been attacked by the grouping of Platon, such as Fertilitatea Călărași, Fertilitatea Strășeni, MoldovaGaz, Red-Nord and many others, not to mention tens of banks and the insurance system and the way in which he used the judicial system for the Laundromat. How can a person who committed so many abuses since 1995 never be punished?” asked Maia Sandu.

After being held in jail for four years, Veaceslav Platon was set free a year ago, the charges against him in the bank fraud case being dropped. Recently, he was officially registered by the Central Election Commission as the representative of the only independent candidate for MP Veaceslav Valico.
