The candidate of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said the presidential runoff elections were organized badly, while the authorities violated the people’s constitutional right to vote. According to her, despite this the voters showed extraordinary mobilization, proving thus that they want the change that is needed by everyone, IPN reports.
In a news conference after the closing of polls, Maia Sandu said that after a dirty campaign, on Election Day she witnessed a series of violations. Even if her team earlier asked to increase the number of ballots for one polling place and to establish more polling places outside the country’s borders, these requests were ignored. Consequently, the ballots at some of the polling places were used up and many people were unable to vote. Such a situation is inacceptable.
The politician requested the Security and Intelligence Service to investigate the case of disappearance of 6,000 ballots intended for two polling places set up in Portugal so as not to allow using them fraudulently. Maia Sandu said that numerous violations were also identified at polling places in Moldova, including attempts to buy votes and organized transportation of Transnistrians to polls, by using administrative resources.
The candidate said that together with her team, she will monitor the vote count. She expressed her confidence that the change wanted by everyone is already underway.
