There are now no imminent dangers of a military invasion of the Republic of Moldova, said President Maia Sandu. According to her, the Ukrainian army manages to keep the front line far from Moldova. The official noted that Russia does not give up the idea of replacing the political regime in Chisinau and the Kremlin’s plan envisions that this will be done by violent actions. Maia Sandu called on the responsible institutions to be maximally vigilant and urged the citizens not to allow to be engaged in provocations, IPN reports.

According to President Sandu, Moscow designed a plan to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova after the Kremlin’s intention to cause snap elections last autumn failed.

“This plan is not a novelty. We saw attempts being made last autumn, attempts to cause violent protests so as to force the government to accept snap elections. But that plan failed last autumn. They then banked on the energy crisis and on the fact that the Republic of Moldova would not cope, would not have sufficient amounts of gas. The Government coped yet and we almost passed this winter, also owing to the support of Romania and other countries that are our friends,” Maia Sandu stated in the program “Beyond White and Black” on TVR1 channel.

According to the official, the Kremlin’s plan is to force the replacement of the government in Chisinau by violent actions masked as the opposition’s protests. She chose to speak in public about this danger so as to warn the citizens to be the prudent and not to fall prey to propaganda and disinformation.

“The new element is that people can be brought from outside to cause violence and to create a state of destabilization in society. The good thing is that we openly speak about this. I want the citizens to know about these risks. We discussed with the state institutions and warned them to be watchful and to prevent such scenarios. The citizens should know that they are safe and we will do our best to keep peace and stability in the country. At the moment, there is no imminent danger of a military invasion. This is due to the fact that Ukraine fights for its freedom and this way fights for our freedom too,” said President Sandu.

On February 13, President Maia Sandu announced that the documents received from the Ukrainian partners show the Kremlin aims to oust the government in Chisinau and planned subversive actions to destabilize the situation in Moldova by using persons from outside the country to generate violence.
