After the incidents in the Transnistrian region, Presdient Maia Sandu calmed things down. She said there are no imminent risks, at least for the citizens who are on the right bank of the Nistru. Maia Sandu noted that she can speak with certitude about the safety of the territory that is under the control of the constitutional authorities of Moldova as the state institutions constantly monitor the situation. The long lines formed at border crossing points towards the right bank of the Nistru are a consequence of the stricter checks, IPN reports.

President Maia Sandu said the incidents witnessed in the Transnistrian region the last few days were provoked by pro-war elements from inside the region, which want to destabilize the situation. She denied Tiraspol’s hypotheses, that the destabilization was allegedly caused by persons from Ukraine and said that Kyiv does not want new hotbeds.

“Kyiv said that it does not want a new front to be opened as it already has to defend many parts of the country. We reiterate that we want the Russian troops to be withdrawn and the conflict to be settled peacefully. Our analyses show there is no imminent risk, at least for the citizens from the right bank. We say this with certitude as our institutors have access. Here, we can ensure public order and the safety of citizens. I hope there will be no attempts that can endanger the life of citizens on the left bank too. We keep in touch with the international partners. We use the diplomatic relations to detect potential risks,” Maia Sandu stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.

President Sandu said the long lines of vehicles leaving the Transnistrian region are due to crowdedness at border crossing points caused by a number of factors, including fear of war and stricter checks.

”The people are checked on both of the sides, by representatives of the regime in Tiraspol and of our institutions, as the Supreme Security Council recommended. We must be more vigilant, especially near the Security Zone. These checks should ensure our safety, but they imply a longer waiting time,” stated President Sandu.

On April 25, the so-called state security ministry in Tiraspol was attacked with grenade launchers. On April 26, the airdrome in Tiraspol was attacked and two radio transmitters in Mayak were destroyed. On Wednesday, the so-called ministry of the interior in Tiraspol said that gunfire was reported near the ammunition depot in Cobasna. Later, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said the shooting wasn’t confirmed.
