The pandemic, economic crisis, taking of the country out of international isolation and the fight against corruption are four important directions towards whic  Maia Sandu moved during the first six months of her tenure as President. She noted she could not work miracles, but a new breath of fresh air was felt in these directions, IPN reports.

President Sandu noted the provision of the population with vaccine was her priority in the period. When she took over, the country didn’t have at least a national immunization plan, but now the Republic of Moldova has vaccines for everyone. Over 1 million vaccine doses were delivered to Moldova in the period and a significant part of these were donated by Romania.

Maia Sandu said that in the period she worked to improve the country’s image and to restore its relations with the foreign partners. “I welcomed in Chisinau the Presidents of Romania and Lithuania. I had discussions on the phone and online with over ten heads of state and government and of international organizations. I paid visits abroad so as to restore the relations of the Republic of Moldova with such important partners as Romania, Ukraine, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and international organizations,” stated the official.

President Sandu noted that during the next few years, she wants to work with a Parliament that belongs to the people and works for the country. She reminded that in the presidential elections, she presented five objectives to the citizens: justice and order, a minimum pension of 2,000 lei, jobs at home and reunified families, investments of at least 2 billion lei for the modernization of settlements, breaking of isolation and coming closer to the EU. To achieve them fully, she needs the people to become involved by voting g in elections and also need a stable and sustainable Government.
