The concert that is organized by President Igor Dodon in the Great National Assembly Square, marking "75 years since the liberation of Moldova from fascism" is meant to divide the society. Prime Minister Maia Sandu expressed this opinion in front of the journalists present at the Commemoration Day for victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes event.
"I think that organizing this concert is not good. I think it divides and deepens the differences in society. The Socialist Party has decided to go further", said Maia Sandu. The prime minister added that Moldova's citizens and leadership must engage in behavior that unites society, instead of dividing it.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Nastase said that the government decided to establish Commemoration Day for victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes on August 23. "This is our response to the concert organized by Igor Dodon", Andrei Năstase told IPN.
The government declared August 23rd the day of commemoration for the victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes, an event during which the state flag was put at half-mast and the participants observed a moment of silence in the memory of those killed.
