President Maia Sandu said that Romania is loved in the Republic of Moldova for its constant support and, principally, for the things that unite – the language transmitted with love by the parents, the history from which multiple lessons of dignity are learned and the culture that builds the most solid bridges. “Romania is loved here for what it does, especially for what it is. I know that Moldova is also loved by Romania,” President Sandu stated in a message disseminated on the occasion of Romania’s National Day, IPN reports.
Maia Sandu noted that Romania in time has loved the Republic of Moldova unconditionally, without waiting for praise or benefits. “As any authentic love, this wasn’t exhibited arrogantly by Romania, but was shown regardless of the circumstances. It offered us electricity when we needed this pressingly, helps us to modernize the localities, to save the lives of the citizens from the left side of the Prut through the SMURD emergency service, offered us the first assistance during the pandemic crisis. And not only the long list of offered benefits, but also our confidence that we can always bank on Romania makes us to be profoundly grateful,” sated the official.
President Sandu also said that for the Republic of Moldova, Romania is a pole of resistance and is the most ardent advocate on its European path. Romania is regarded with hope when Moldova is in need and as a benchmark in its aspirations to join the EU. Romania looks at Moldova with confidence that it will successfully cover the chosen path.
“We are connected by the past, but will be even more connected by the future. We are tied by the wish to build a just and decent society for all our citizens, to become stronger together. Our road is common. Our place is in the European Union together. We know that Romania stands by us and this helps us to be confident in the future no matter how big the challenges we face are. Many happy returns to all those who feel in a Romanian way, speak the Romanian language and love Romania,” said Maia Sandu.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean also transmitted a message on the Great Union Day. “On Romania’s National Day, we celebrate the Romanian language, values, culture and the strong historical ties that unite the two banks of the Prut. We celebrate the European future we build together today through new connections – bridges, investments, gas pipelines, energy connections and scholarships for students. Many happy returns, Romania! Many happy returns, dear Romanians!” said the official.
On December 1, 2023, it has been 105 years of the Great Union as a result of which the state Romania was formed. On this occasion, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense stages a national military parade in Bucharest and this involves a contingent of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.
