The common candidate for President of the center-right forces Maia Sandu said a number of false reports about her have been disseminate by the media such as the fact that she accepted tens of thousands of Syrian migrants to be brought to Moldova or that she reached an agreement with the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. The politician came before the journalists in order to refute these reports, IPN reports.
“It is not right that I promised someone that I would bring Syrian migrants to Moldova. It is not true that I met with Plahotniuc yesterday. I never talked to him. It is not true that I banned icons in schools,” said the candidate for President, adding that after Marian Lupu withdrew from the race, she said she refuses the support of Vlad Plahotniuc, not of the Democratic voters.
Maia Sandu noted that in three days the people can choose a President who wants to gain power in order to secure his comfort and wealth or a President who has nothing to lose than the chance to contribute to the people’s welfare. “I will start to bring things in order from up. Together we will bring things in order all over the country. Regardless of the political preferences and the language you speak, either you look at the East or the West, I will do my best to make sure that you feel safe at home because every citizen counts. Moldova needs unity. The corrupt politicians tried to divide us using important things such as the language, culture, history and religion. It was easier for them to rob us because we are split,” stated the candidate.
Maia Sandu called on the people to go and vote not for fear, but with hope. In her message to the Moldovans who are outside the country‘s borders, Maia Sandu asked these to vote as they can make a difference.
Fielded by the Party “Action and Solidarity”, the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Liberal Democratic Party, Maia Sandu was assured of support by the Green Ecologist Party and the Liberal Reformist Party. On October 26, Democratic candidate Marian Lupu withdrew from the race, arguing that Maia Sandu has more chances of beating Socialist Igor Dodon and that the Democratic Party’s priority is not to obtain a momentary victory, but to make sure that the country has a pro-European President.
