The foreign policy activity of the presidential administrant will center on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the improvement of the situation in the health system by ensuring the vaccination needs of the country and attracting assistance for the healthcare sector. It will also be aimed at supporting the economic recovery of the country by attracting funds for strengthening macroeconomic stability, assisting SMEs and attracting investments, at fighting corruption and promoting the rule of law by cooperating with the international partners so as to recover the foreign assets of the corrupt public functionaries, officials and businesspeople.

Among the foreign policy objectives are to support regional security and a conflict-free environment by maintaining good neighborhood relations with Romania, Ukraine and other states that have security interests in the region and by strengthening the security and defense institutions, and also to play an active role internationally.

“We now enjoy great openness on the part of our foreign partners, but have to work hard to put it to good use for the people’s benefit. We cannot miss this occasion,” President Maia Sandu said when presenting the document.

Under the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Moldova represents the state in the relations with other countries at the highest level and fulfills the foreign policy duties in cooperation with Parliament and the Government.
