The leader of the Party of Action and Solidary (PAS) Maia Sandu said that during the last few months she had a number of local meetings with supporters of the Democratic Party and of other parties. In these meetings, the mayors of the PDM said incumbent Presidia Igor Dodon represents an obstacle to obtaining foreign financial resources, IPN reports.

“We met with a lot of supporters of the Democratic Party and discussed with residents of many localities. I didn’t meet a voter, especially a mayor of the PDM, who would want Dodon to remain in power. This is what we discovered and we will see what the members of the Democratic Party rediscover. If they pay attention to what the people say, they should join the fight against Igor Dodon,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

Maia Sandu noted that in the meetings she had with people and with mayors, these said that they are against the reelection of Igor Dodon as President.

“Most of the mayors told us that most of the projects in localities are implemented with foreign funds and we saw during these months that Igor Dodon and his government were the main obstacle that prevented the communities from receiving money for development,” stated the politician.

Asked how a good President could bring money to the country if the post of this in the Republic of Moldova is symbolical, the PAS leader said the President can negotiate financial resources that would come from the foreign partners.

“It ultimately matters who goes there and how this support is asked. One of our commitments is to bring money from the European Union to our rural communities as things there stand baldy and the situation should be improved if we want the young people to remain in the country, including in villages,” said Maia Sandu.
