Outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi will hold the post of Prime Minister on an interim basis. The appointment decree was signed by President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.
“As the outgoing Prime Minister Ion Chicu refused to hold the post further, until a new Government is formed, the President, in accordance with the Constitution, names the acting Premier mandatorily from among ministers,” stated Maia Sandu.
Earlier the same day, in a news conference on the last day of his tenure Ion Chicu announced that Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari will hold the post of Prime Minster on an interim basis as from January 1 until President Maia Sandu signs a decree on the appointment of another acting Premier, within five days.
