The president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu said the media space in the Republic of Moldova has become more toxic, harmful to the people and monopolized. According to her, over 80% of the people inform themselves through the TV and the information they get this way shapes their opinions. If this information, disseminated by TV channels or newspapers, is misleading and untrue, the people risk making an incorrect choice and their options will not be thus formed correctly, IPN reports.

The politician told a news conference that manipulation and propaganda are the main weapon of the current regime. The deterioration of the media space is due to the abuses committed by the government and the favors done to media outlets affiliated to the power.

According to the PAS leader, the organization “Reporters without Borders” established that the editorial policy of the main media outlets promotes the political and business interests of the backers. “The propaganda holding expands in the Republic of Moldova. We refer to the holding of Plahotniuc, Dodon and, more recently, of Shor. The people who are indicated as owners of these TV channels are featured in the Kroll report. These are persons to blame for the theft of public funds. Besides the developments witnessed in the media sector, there is also the national TV channel that is financed with people’s money, but that promotes not the public interest, but the interests of representatives of the regime,” stated Maia Sandu.

In the news conference, the participants made reference to a number of newspaper articles saying Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase could be accused of treason in the interests of Russia’s FSB. Sergiu Litvinenko, a member of the PAS National Standing Bureau, said the PAS during the next few days will submit preliminary requests to the periodicals that published articles that denigrate the party. The PAS will demand to deny the false reports and will seek the right to reply.
