Ex-minister of education Maia Sandu said the idea of forming a pro-European government supported by the Party of Communists is worth considering if the continuation of the path of European integration and real implementation of reforms are the stake. She stated her opinion on the issue in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.
Maia Sandu argued that the Gaburici Government, of which she formed part, was invested with the support of the Communists. “The most important thing is to continue doing reforms as we have an education system of a poor quality and it was worth making this compromise. But the PCRM must show that it can become pro-European. We must see in practice what policies in the European spirit the Communists can support,” she stated.
In another development, Maia Sandu denied the press reports that the PLDM intended to take part in the formation of a new coalition government with the old allies if Maia Sandu was accepted for the post of Premier, but the PDM refused. She said that there were such ideas in the PLDM, but nobody discussed this matter with her, including Valeriu Strelet, even if she had a conversation with him the previous days. “I heard that they discussed this issue inside the PLDM, but nobody discussed it with me,” she stated.
