Maia Sandu is most trusted politician in Moldova, survey

Maia Sandu remains the most trusted politician in the Republic of Moldova, according to a poll commissioned by WatchDog.MD Community and conducted by the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing “CBS-Research”. Some 30.1% of those polled said they trust Maia Sandu the most. The question was an open one, IPN reports.



According to Valeriu Pașa, WatchDog.MD head, Maia Sandu is followed by Igor Dodon (5.4%), Ilan Shor (4.1%) and Ion Chicu (2.2%). Over 43% of the respondents said they do not trust anyone.



For an open question about the trust in political personalities, each respondent received a list of politicians and the possibility of choosing one of the five variants: “a lot of trust”, “particular trust”, “haven’t heard about this politician at all”, “no trust at all” or “I do not really trust the person”. President Maia Sandu ranks first with a cumulated image rating of 47.4% (28.7% - “a lot of trust”, 18.7% - “particular trust”). President Sandu is followed by mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban with a rating of 35.6% (9.5%, 26.1%) and ex-President Igor Dodon, with a rating of 32.9% (10.2%, 22.7%).



If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, three parties would enter Moldova’s legislative body. The Party of Action and Solidarity would gain 31.7% of the vote, the Bloc of Communists and Socialists – 15.4%, while the Shor Party, which was outlawed and dissolved on June 19, 2023 – 9.7%. Some 15.3% of those surveyed said they would go to the polls, but haven’t decided yet who to vote for, while 11.7% said they would not vote in elections.



Out of the decided respondents, 44.3% would vote for the PAS, 21.5% for the BCS, while 13.6% for the Shor Party.



If presidential elections were held next Sunday, Maia Sandu would obtain 37.9% of the poll, Igor Dodon – 14.2%, Ion Ceban – 6.2%. Out of the decided respondents, 46.5% would vote for Maia Sandu, 17.4% for Igor Dodon, 7.6% for Ion Ceban.

The poll was carried out during June 10-19 and covered a sample of 1,121 persons aged 18 and over. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
