The president of the Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu, ex-Prime Minister, said the parties of the right that promote the European integration should have concrete discussions and should consider the possibility of fielding a common candidate for the presidential elections. Here, she referred also to the statements made by mates from the ACUM Bloc, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA), who announced that they will support only a nonparty candidate for President. The politician noted she wants to see such candidates so as to seriously discuss the issue, IPN reports.

“I heard the colleagues from the PPPDA saying that they will support only a nonparty candidate. We asked them who they propose so as to consider the chances of this candidate. The biggest problem resides in the information environment in the Republic of Moldova as, when the access to the media that reach all the corners of the country is limited, the capacity to make an unknown person known is not so great. The task is thus rather difficult,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

Also, Maia Sandu said the party she represents does not say “No” to any of the options, but wants to know exactly what it is proposed. “If we do not discuss, we will never have a common candidate in elections. We want to hear the viewpoints of fellows from other parties. We started a discussion with Dorin Chirtoacă of the Liberal Party, but hope that we will also have a discussion with the mates from the PPPDA when Andrei Năstase returns home. We will also discuss with the Liberal Democratic Party and other forces that want to discuss and that share the European integration objectives,” stated the former Prime Minister.

She noted that the parties will start from responsibility and very pragmatic discussions. “I’m optimistic that we can have a discussion in the people’s interests. I hope we will be able to overcome the animosities and I think political vanity did a lot of harm in time to the Republic of Moldova. I hope we all understand that Igor Dodon is a big danger to the Republic of Moldova and, if we allow him to hold one more term in office, this state will become a phantom country in which only elderly people who cannot leave will remain,” said the politician.

Maia Sandu also said that she is in a more difficult, but not impossible situation compared with Igor Dodon and his institutional and media possibilities.
