Maia Sandu, the joint candidate of the right in the presidential elections, denies the accusations leveled by her opponent Igor Dodon as to her intentions to bring Syrian migrants to Moldova, to legalize same-sex marriages and to close churches. The statements were made in an electoral debate on “PRO TV Chisinau” channel, IPN reports.
“These are whopping lies of Dodon. I will do none of these things. Why should I close churches if I go to church myself? But I do not take pictures in the church for PR as Dodon does. A faithful person goes to church not in order to take pictures. I’ve never seen a more deceitful man than Dodon,” stated Maia Sandu.
She accused Igor Dodon of being Plahotniuc’s man and said she will not sign the anti-Plahotniuc document proposed by her opponent. “Igor Dodon means Plahotniuc. Igor Dodon has business relations with Plahotniuc and flies by his private planes. Tell me, Mister Dodon, where did you fly by Plahotniuc’s private plane and on whose money. Dodon sold a hotel to Plahotniuc at a derisory price and the state lost over 120 million lei. I will sign no document together with Igor Dodon. I sign anti-Plahotniuc and anti-Dodon,” stated Maia Sandu.
The candidate suggested that Dodon could be jailed. “There is one more criminal left who would support me and this is you! I don’t know what relations you have with Filat, but you will tell him personally when you reach penitentiary No. 13. You know details about Banca de Economii. You were present at Ilan Shor’s wedding, not me,” she said.
Maia Sandu assured she will not take important decisions without consulting the people. “I assume responsibility and will show that I’m responsible, as I showed until now. I assure you that the important decisions will be taken by the people,” she stated.
