Prime Minister Maia Sandu voiced hope the Constitutional Court judges will read the Venice Commission’s Opinion and will understand that they should leave. She noted Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen should also vacate his seat as this should be occupied by an upright person. The issue was developed in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“If the prosecutor general does not leave voluntarily, we will amend the legislation so that he could be dismissed and a contest will be held to choose a new prosecutor. The same will happen in relation to other posts,” stated Premier Sandu.

As to the decisions taken during the past week in relation to Renato Usatyi, Pavel Grigorciuc and Andrei Tranga, Maia Sandu said either illegal and incorrect decisions were taken initially or these decisions are now illegal and incorrect. “It is not clear how these changes can be explained. If the prosecutor or the judge changed their decisions, they should explain why,” stated the politician.

As to the “Good Roads” Program, Maia Sandu said this costs about 2 billion lei, but only 900 million lei is available in the budget for the purpose. The situation is much the same with regard to the other projects. The project “Chisinau Arena” should be thoroughly analyzed and a decision as to the continuation of the works will be taken later.

The Premier said a decision concerning the relocation of Moldova’s Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem does not exist. “When I came to the Government, I requested to be shown documents regarding the two decisions that were approved by the Filip Government after the new executive was invested and I was told that there were no such documents and no one saw something like this. We didn’t find the documents in the State Chancellery,” she stated.

Maia Sandu said that most probably she will not run in the next presidential elections of 2020 as a lot of work is to be done in the Government. “We should work very well here so that the people understand that we have goals and feel that we have a Government that works for the people and we should now refocus on this,” noted the Prime Minister.
