The leader of the political project “Action and Solidarity” Party (PAS) Maia Sandu said the party whose constitution congress will be held this weekend will be a center-right political alternative. She noted that alongside the members of the project, she aims to build a sustainable party. The politician developed the issue in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said they will make effort to clean up the whole corruption system and to free the state institutions so that they work for the people’s benefit. They also aim to ensure transparency in public procurement, to depoliticize the Central Election Commission, to do reforms on all the segments and to shed light on the large-scale bank fraud.

In another development, the ex-minister of education stated that the presidential elections will represent a first step towards demolishing the current political system and initiating reforms. Maia Sandu said they are for early parliamentary elections.

Another participant in the debate, political commentator Corneliu Ciurea said the new political project PAS is not the only alternative on the political arena Moldova as there are more alternatives, both of the left and of the right. According to him, the politician Maia Sandu is yet an enigma.

Ion Dron, who heads the Center of Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring, said Maia Sandu, together with all the members of the Cabinet of which she formed part, signed the documents that allowed stealing the billion from the banking system. The politicians who signed such documents in Romania were investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate.

Maia Sandu denied the accusations, saying she signed the second guarantee that was issued when Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank were already under the National Bank’s supervision.
