President Maia Sandu said the European Political Community Summit hosted by Moldova on June 1 showed that the country’s accession to the European Union is closer and brings concrete benefits to the people.  “Only in the European family, we can be sure of the stability and peace in our county. Our voice matters when important decisions are taken. The path we chose, the European one, is supported by the countries of the European Union,” the official told a news conference, being quoted by IPN.

President Sandu noted that Europe during these days showed that it trusts the Republic of Moldova. The European Political Community Summit that involved 49 Presidents, Prime Ministers and high-ranking European officials placed Moldova in the center of Europe and showed to the whole world that the Moldovans can do whatever they aim to do.

“On June 1, dear Moldovans, we together wrote history. The whole Europe came to our country to confirm that Moldova is important and has a place among the important, strong and free countries of the world, to help us fulfill the aspirations of our citizens to live in peace and wellbeing, to bring the European Union here, at home,” stated the official.

The European Political Community is a dialogue platform for all the countries from the European continent. Once in half a year, the leaders of EU and non-EU member states come together to discuss major common problems, methods of coping with the war that affects everyone and of avoiding other conflicts on the continent and of restoring peace.

The event of June 1 showed that the Republic of Moldova is a partner that is respected by all the European countries. “The hosting of the summit is a clear signal that Moldova is important for the European Union and for other countries from our continent. Moldova is no longer regarded, as several years ago, as an obscure place where criminal groups divide state property and is no longer considered a state that allows to be derided by the Kremlin. Moreover, Moldova is perceived as a future member of the EU,” said Maia Sandu.

The European Political Community was founded in 2022 on the initiative of the President of France Emmanuel Macron. The first EPC Summit was held in the Czech Republic, while the third such event will take place in Spain.
