The poor equipping of hospitals, insufficient protection of doctors and the absence of measures to identify persons infected with COVID-19 at the entrance to the country brought the Republic of Moldova in the current situation, Ex-Premier Maia Sandu, the leader of the Action and Solidary Party, was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Issue of the Day” on Canal 2 channel.

“From the first day the state of emergency was declared, we have expressed our readiness to become involved one way or another. It is rather hard to manage things so as to maximally reduce the sanitary problems, the effects of the sanitary crisis and of the economic crisis. Regrettably, we have arrogant persons in government, who only know to make accusations. According to them, everyone is to blame for the poor management, less they themselves,” stated Mai Sandu.

She considers the large number of infections among healthcare workers is also through the authorities’ fault. In a month of the declaring of the state of emergency, some of the hospitals tuned into real hotbeds of COVDI-19 for the medical personnel and also for people who went to the hospital for other reasons than the infection with COVID-19.

“The way in which the process of preparing hospitals was administered was very bad and we thus have the highest infection rate among doctors,” noted the ex-Premier.

According to Maia Sandu, the examination of those who returned to the country was another element that led to the rise in the number of infections with COVID-19.

“There were infected persons who weren’t identified on time, when crossing the border. Mistakes have been made from the beginning. The people weren’t examined, tested.”
