The fight against corruption is the main goal of the party that will be created by former minister of education Maia Sandu, who entered politics. She made such a statement in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

“I have lately witnessed many events that are not beneficial to Moldova. I decided to enter politics. The new political project wants a prosperous and sustainable society. Corruption is the main obstacle to economic development and ensuring of prosperity. To reach high living standards, we must root out corruption. This will be the key goal of the political projects that we will launch. Those who want to support us and to become involved must know that we will not offer money and posts,” stated Maia Sandu.

The former minister said she decided to launch a new political project after she had discussions with a number of party leaders, but could not identify herself with one of the parties. “Iurie Leanca is a very good diplomat, but our opinions on corruption differ. I’m for harsher actions in the fight against corruption. With those from the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, we have identical views, but there should be competition between parties so that things develop in the best way possible,” she added.

Asked to comment on the possible nomination of Vlad Plahotniuc for Prime Minister, Maia Sandu expressed her hope that the head of state will not yield to the PDM. “I don’t think that Nicolae Timofti will field Plahotniuc in a second round of voting is held to vote in the Premier. I don’t see reasons for him to do this. Plahotniuc contributed to the politicization of the state institutions and society does not want him,” she stated.

Ex-minister of education Maia Sandu announced her intention to build a new party on December 23.
