President Maia Sandu awarded the Order of Honor to U.S. Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan, on the occasion of the completion of his duties in the Republic of Moldova. The award was conferred in gratitude for the support for the efforts made by the Republic of Moldova to build a democratic and prosperous society, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
President Sandu thanked Ambassador Hogan for his contribution to promoting democratic transformations in the Republic of Moldova and for the support offered, together with his team, to the people who struggled for a free and just society.
Maia Sandu also thanked the U.S. for the support provided to fight the pandemic, for the assistance programs in the field of economic development and infrastructure and for the assistance offered in strengthening the state institutions and the independent press.
In the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the reinvigoration of the bilateral relations in the context of the Moldovan-American High-Level Strategic Dialogue, including such subjects as the strengthening of the rule of law, the fight against corruption and reformation of the justice sector as well as the digitization of the economy.
