Maia Sandu condemns massive violence against civilians. Travel alert issued for Israel

President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean expressed their solidarity with the people of Israel and firmly condemned the violence against innocent civilians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova issued a travel advisory for Israel and recommends all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to avoid traveling to this country after the security situation there has worsened considerably, IPN reports.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the country “is at war”. The Moldovan authorities condemned the attack on the civilian population and called for an immediate ceasefire.

“Consternated by the ongoing attack on Israel, I condemn the massive violence against innocent civilians. My thoughts are with those from Israel and all those who are defending themselves form these merciless attacks,” President Sandu posted on Twitter.

“The Republic of Moldova expresses its solidary with Israel following the massive attacks on the people of Israel. The brutal violence against innocent civilians should stop. In these difficult moments for the people of Israel, we are united against terrorism,” Premier Recean posted on Twitter.

Given the significant worsening of the security situation in Israel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova issued a travel alert, insistently warning the Moldovans against traveling to this country.

“The Ministry recommends all the compatriots who are in Israel to keep in touch with the Embassy in Tel Aviv and to inform about the situation at the local level. Everyone is advised to inform themselves form official sources, to follow local and international news about the recent developments in the region, to check and obey the ordinances made by the local authorities and to strictly obey any rule or recommendation issued by these. The Ministry recommends them to remain in contact with close relatives so that they could be contacted in emergencies, to be cautious and give priority to safety in all circumstances,” the institution noted in a press release.
