The composition of the Supreme Security Council (SSC) will be changed in the nearest future so that it reflects the realities. “Today the Council met in the old makeup as, in accordance with the law, some of the persons who changed the post can keep the old post for a month,” President Maia Sandu was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of SSC.

The ex officio members of the Supreme Security Council are: the President, Parliament Speaker – Igor Grosu, Prime Minister – Natalia Gavrilița; head of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order – Lilian Carp; minister of defense – Anatolie Nosatîi, minister of home affairs – Ana Revenco; director of the Security and Intelligence Service – Alexandr Esaulenco; prosecutor general – Alexandr Stoianoglo, and National Bank governor – Octavian Armașu. Other members can modify their status after they entered Parliament or Government as a result of the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021.

The Regulations of the Supreme Security Council provide that the President of the Republic of Moldova can also name other persons holding responsible posts as SSC members.

The Council has meetings once a month and can also have extraordinary sessions, if necessary.
